Here is your chance to own an extremely rare car! 1987 BMW M6 with only 96k miles.

This car was found in a garage in Indianapolis and has not been driven or registered for the last 4 to 5 years. It is in very good original condition, but needs a bit of TLC.

The Details:

Cinnabar Red with Lotus interior. The seat’s side bolsters and door tops are charcoal. The current owner SWEARS this is original. He knew the original purchaser and the car was ordered specially like this.

The interior is in decent shape. The Lotus colored leather is all in very good shape with no rips or tears, save a small wear hole in the shift boot. The Charcoal leather is not ripped or torn but does show minor cracking commensurate with the car’s age. A normal dye job with Leatherique products (leatherique.org) will return the car’s interior to basically new condition.

The exterior is in very good shape as well. There are two areas that need to be addressed. There is a small crease in the lip of the driver’s side rear wheel well. It is very minor but will need body work to completely correct. I am NOT about to paint a completely original car for something this minor but the winning bidder can fix it to their satisfaction.  The other paintwork that is needed it the front air dam which is normal. The air dam is not cracked. It is just scraped.

Tires and wheels are stock 415 TRXs that are so worn they won’t hold air. The wheels however are in very good shape as can be seen from the pictures.

The car has the stock suspension. I would plan on changing the front control arm bushings with the modified 750iL pieces. This is a common modification for these cars.

The self-leveling suspension is intact and still operating, though I’d plan on replacing the pressure accumulator as these ALL fail eventually.

I would plan on changing all the fluids, the brake lines (good time to go to stainless) rotors and exhaust as well.

All in all this is a VERY nice car with tons of potential. I am planning on having the car detailed and getting the air dam painted. If I get the tire and wheel question fixed and leather dyed, the car will be WAY more expensive than it is now.

If you do the work, you get it cheap. If I do the work…  J

News Flash! The new tires and wheels just arrived! They are ASA AR1s with 225/50-16 Sumitomo HTR50Zs, a tire I've known and loved for years. I'll include them at the original price of $14,000.
